I wonder how that can be done. It is certainly possible to hit the top 10. I'm not sure about the top 3 though.
Mobius has been going for a while now, and his growth is phenomenal.
It is certainly possible to reach the leaderboards though.
I noticed outwar has clipped the maximum level you can have to 60(like warcraft).
I don't know why they did that, but it has advantages and disadvantages.
People can still fight on the leaderboard for the most exp, but nobody gets more than level 60 there.
I wonder what they did it for. Perhaps it is to allow new players to catch up if they work hard, or perhaps it is so they don't have to keep adding more and more powerful items to the game(i know they have problems with new players getting super items - we have Item cla**es to evade that problem).
anyways I'd agree that the quest is lacking, everything else is cool but the quest area needs a bit more detail before funneling people in.
Really? Wow.. And all this time I thought you were sort of a biomechanical man with auto-clicking superpowers.. Who knew you could feel numbness too? hehehe.. hahaha.. just joking..
Anyway, people are still gonna come once you advertise.. SOme are gonna be p**sed off that it seems not finished and start comparing it to other games.. While other look at it as an opportunity and see the game as still young and looks forward to any updates in the future.. different perspective from different walks of life..
One thing that entered my mind.. You need to make it so that new players have a chance in this round to catch up.. A lot of players are very pa**ionate about winning or coming out on top.. And if they see that it is not possible coz they are already behind, they wont bother to play the game anymore.. There must be a clear possibility for them to catch up, but also for old players to keep their advantage if they put effort into it.. you can't stay on top of you dont work for it right?
Anyways you may be right, I dunno. Realistically "the" top spot is unattainable anyways, there are other goals you can set for yourself to make the game more interesting. If a newbie gamer were to start the game and he dedicates himself enough he could establish quite a bit of power in a months time. I'm not going to put an exact figure on it but I would think building a level 35+ in a month should be very feasible.

Yeh, and besides, you shouldn't expect to surpa** someone who has played for over a year in a few weeks

Very true. Nobody should expect to put any less effort in it than we did to get to the point we are at. There is still plenty of room for more power hungry people up top.
Have you heard/played the game RF online? Anyway RF has a concept of level capping, meaning they have a peak level, which they increase by 5 or 10 after every new game patch they released.. This allows new players to catch up and stiffens the game compet*tion.. lets say the current cap is lvl50.. it doesn't matter if you reach 50 first coz until the next patch is released, you're gonna be stuck there and people are gonna catch up.. but what about compet*tion?
Well, RF has a "contribution point" concept.. contribution point or CP can be acquired through quests/missions and killing other races (who also owns a certain CP, if the player you killed has no CP, you get nothing), among other ways, I'm no expert in this game.. CP is the way the game ranking system works, the more CP you have, the higher you rank.. rank is cla**esd according to race.. they have three races so 3 number #1 spot..
in RF though, the only rank that matters is #1 and he gets benefits which he will gain, and lose when somebody catches up to his CP.. the good thing about their system is regardless of level, you can be #1 through the CP if you work hard for it..
I dont know how we can apply it here since we dont have a level cap concept (maybe i should suggest it to ouwar lol), but still I mentioned it coz maybe it'll spark some minds on a new gaming concept to suggest..
