The fishing area is the little L bit on the bottom-right of this map. It shouldn't be so hard to find your way to it, but I suggest you get yourself a rod before you go, which is at the General Store.

Oh, and here is a temporary way to view your fishing experience...

if i am correct 10,000 brain fish = 1,000,000 experience

Here is something that should be explained.

Fishing is one of the new 'Skills'(old skills will be removed).

Each skill has a set of mastery levels. A beginner is an apprentice.
I can't remember the other ones, but it goes up to Master, I believe.

You will not hit the end of the progress bar if you are only an apprentice.
The most you can go for fishing is 80, I believe.

One caught fish is the same as one exp point for your fishing skill.
Once you hit the max, you won't increase your skill anymore. You'll have to get another Fishing Trainer to teach you, so you can become a Journeyman, Expert, Master, etc. I am sick of my memory! I had them all written down, but they are on the other computer(smiley)

To summarise, you have several stages for every skill you learn. If you are an apprentice, you will not be able to increase your experience forever - just to the next stage, afterwhich you need to seek out a new trainer.

In addition, with the fishing skill, 1 fish == 1 exp for apprentice, but then it changes, and grows steadily harder to get a single exp point. but don't worry, it doesn't make it unfair. It's just because each mastery level allows you to catch more and more powerful/interesting things.

I look forward to the mining skill, which I've already created, but haven't put online yet(smiley)

Nearly finished the NPC that buys the fish. How does 100,000 Cr - 250,000 Cr sound?
