has become seriously screwed!
How is it I can no longer beat pretty much anyone over level 100??
regardless of gear or skills. Seems the further you were over level 150 before this cap & prestige system came in, the harder ots become to play.
Would have mailed this too you cybekilla but you still hve me mailed blocked!!
Its become obvious the game is no longer about growth. just be mediocre & you will do ok.

The prestige system is still work in progress, soon™ prestige levels are going to have some bonuses (but certainly won't make top players as invincible as they used to be, CK intends equipment and skills to have larger role)
At the moment though what differentiates a 150 from 150 is equipment, which is why I'm keeping my power suit on even when I'm not doing any attacking to pick up some defends. (when I have done bounties, then my win rate averages around 75% (with skills on), some bad luck in inevitable)

I can't do right for wrong on this game
People moan for 10 years that items aren't important enough, and that new players can't be expected to play for another 10 years on 2x speed to catch up to the people that have already been here 10 years... so I take action.
And now the narrative is reversed. I do have upcoming changes to make items even more powerful, and we are going to get additional item quality levels that will help differentiate players at same level. We've only really used Poor, Uncommon, Common, Rare, so far, but there are many more.
We're also likely to be getting a new item slot soon, for pets. I've already done the work, all that's left is making the items for the slot. Well, and then finding ways to introduce them to the game.
Out of curiosity though, DemonicJ, who is it you're attacking that can beat you consistently 50 levels below you? I'd certainly like to take a look at that, wouldn't have expected that tbh. 10-20 maybe, but not 50.

feel free to go through my logs. there are plenty of losses there now. Only benefit to the 150 cap is there are now a lot of smaller players that can be smashed (will they stay seeing a level 150 prestige 182 smacking them?). The system was fine before & rewarded those putting in effort.
New players may come & see how far away people are, but the big players dont always stay at it.

Thing is, when I add new content, I'm not going to make a level 300 set for 2 people to use. The benefit of the cap is, I know for sure what the bounds of content is.
In terms of effort being rewarded, we still do track all exp gained and leaderboards use exp, not level. I will concede though, we need to make a bigger fuss about prestige level, more and better items, and I think the level attack range stuff is still not right.
It's 40% of your level, or something like that. Has been since the game began. I know a few other games like this only allow +-10 or 20 levels attack range. Others do something a bit more interesting, which is to allow everyone to attack everyone, but... if you're too many levels above, it's a sort of partial attack; you don't do much damage to them, it's more one-sided and less profitable than punching above or within your weight cla**.
Always open to feedback/improvements. I don't think we've had the cap long enough to make any conclusions though. Personally I'm more for than against it atm, but it does need tweaking.
