Hello, just a quick note to say, we're nearly ready to transfer over to the new codebase.

I've a couple of pages left to fix, that I consider blockers. Anything else can be done after we're on the new code. I expect that it'll land at some point this week, hopefully just a day or so.

Things to note:
  • This will appear largely as a cosmetic change, but in fact, most of the game has been rewritten, and much of it has been converted into a series of internal APIs. We have support for doing a lot of things without reloading the page, and I'll be pushing to get everything else working like that too.
  • Some things will need a bit more polish, and it'll be handy to get good critique about what is liked/disliked about the new design.
  • There will be a dark theme, for those that want it. It isn't 100% finished, but we can include it regardless, for those that dislike the lighter design.
  • This doesn't qualify as new content, and I don't want you to think I believe that (smiley)
  • After this transition to the new codebase, next steps are:
    • Rea**essment of the power balance and progression curve of the game. Items need to be more powerful, and attributes gleaned from level shouldn't be quite so steep. This should make the game more fun, as you'll be able to hang onto you favourite weapons for longer.
    • New features, such as a tournament system, the grid game (mentioned a while ago), daily, weekly and monthly pots that you fill to earn prizes and bonuses.
    • Reinstatement of the guild tax feature, so that guilds can skim a % of money from members, if they wish (we used to have this in round 3, and it was useful).
    • Guild trophies and badges, and other progression features.
    • Guild level system, so that guilds can earn experience and level up too!
    • Quest system improvements.
    • Proper, reliable, bi-weekly content drops for new maps, items, and other things, instead of us stagnating because nobody wants to make content when the level curve destroys its usefulness.
    • Etc.
Right, deja vu, but there you go. It's happening for real this time (smiley)

And lastly, I apologise profusely for the incredibly delay in forward progress. Your collective patience in the matter is saintlike (smiley)

Continuing on from my previous post, it's going well. I've patched up the inventory/backpack page into working order (though it's going to get a proper overhaul soon, with proper AJAX API calls, search, folder, etc.)

I've also cleaned up the dashboard page slightly. I just want it to look presentable. I'm loathed to do any real work on it, because we're 80% through a redesign of the page, where it'll have a tutorial flow, daily objectives, advanced stats, and generally be more useful.

I think this will do for now... It's not like the old one is any good either (smiley)

Edit: Forgot to say, I'm expecting we'll be on the new version by the end of the week, and if not, certainly over the weekend. I'm going to clean up a few more things, then I'll port the database over. Expect breakage!

Additionally, the URL of the test site is:

https://pre.futurerp.net/pages/home.php

You may already have an account, if you've been around a couple of years. If not, you can create a temporary one, which will be wiped when we migrate. Please use valid email addresses, but you'll need to ensure that the URL in the verification email is changed to "pre.futurerp.net", if you intend to verify your account there.

Feedback is welcome. It's still a bit rough around the edges, but I reckon we'll get stuff fixed much faster if we're actually using the damned thing, hence why I'm moving us over in a few days (smiley)

I like the new look. I definitely vote for a "dark" theme as it's less suspicious when being checked during work

The new content seems promising as well. I think the guild level up idea! Maybe some raids can be made only available to certain level guilds! And once it's raided, it's removed from the map for a while for all guilds.

Any intention to implement a world boss (as discussed in a previous thread)?

Super excited for new content!

Good point (smiley) I'll make sure we get the dark theme sorted out as soon as a possible.

Yeah, guild levelling has been something I've wanted to add for a long time (smiley)

And, I don't know. If truth be told, I can't remember what the world boss idea was about. I'll have a read
