- Newbie Asteroid Belt Feedback Thread
I would welcome any feedback your can offer! This mapset is exclusively for new players, and as such, must be the easiest and most intuitive of them all.
Thank you in advance for any feedback you can provide! In particular, feedback about navigation and questing would be great.
As noted by Sdiddy73: drop rate on fireflies should be higher. FIXED
As noted by Doctor: drop rate on space hobos in first area should be higher. FIXED
As noted by Irayna: Partially Digested Man does not return Space Salt. FIXED
- I destroyed the space sale.
- Granted, I'm not a new player, so I probably might have equipped the space salt, but since I'm not and it was looking like I'd have to collect a bunch of firefiles, I went through and cleaned out my pack. Then I find the quest wanting the salt.
- Maybe that should also be available from a vendor just in case, since not everyone will do all of the quests, or since someone might miss that quest for some reason and not know where to go back for it.
- There are way too many items to collect for the firefly quests.
- All three firefly quests need a total of 16 items. That's more than a new backpack holds, so I'm not sure if that's really a good idea for newbies who may not have even figured out how to equip stuff yet.
- Maybe quests items could stack in the backpack.
- Regarding drop rates, yeah they suck.
- Perhaps the firefly catchers could also drop fireflies. It seemed intuitive to me, so I tried killing them as well, for nothing

#1. Yes, I plan this too. It'll be in the cargo ship, or at the fork in the road. You'll also be able to cancel and restart a quest if you destroy the package you were meant to deliver, etc.
#2. You are a huge level. New players will do the quests more sequentially. Also, there is talk about increasing the bp size, and/or creating a special space for quest items
#3. Yep, I think we need to raise from 5% to at least 20%. And yes, the catchers could drop them too. That would make sense.
Thanks for the feedback
Completely agree with Irayna.
A 'quest item' additonaly backpack seems like an excellent idea to me.
And also, perhaps make the quest instructions slightly more intuitive?
eg Stealing From The Church - "Collect vials and give them to the rebel, in order to receive vials of plasma."
That's all well and good, but when you've never seen an empty vial before, it doesn't really give you enough information to go on - I'm still not sure where to find them
Other than that, I have to say it's looking fantastic, well done!
