I was wondering what drops items? How can i get other then buying?

You can go to World --> Explore and kill monsters.
Sometimes they drop items.

meh, tritooth rats and nightshade hawk never dropped any items for me xD
Anyway, items are also got from raiding NPC bosses (Borag and t*tan)

The monsters in Wilderness[1] and Lookout Point drop items.
