It's not familiar from outwar. I only played that for a week, and didn't pay any attention at all to storylines. I was only there to see if I could see the items in the game, so I could try to recognize them when players tried to copy them in the old weapon forging system.
Outwar doesn't really have a storyline. It just relies on the generic rpg function - do something for a reward. We don't have much of one at the moment either, but give me a few weeks
The engine we run on at the moment supports killing for rewards too, and there will be a good number of quests based upon this.
However, this is where the months of endless work on my part give us an advantage
We have a fully functional 'quest' engine onto of the map viewer. Each quest has multiple tasks which must be performed to get to the next stage of the quest.
A single quest can be a full adventure, requiring you to talk to multiple characters, operate levers, open doors, blow things up, perform guild raids on a monster to get past it, etc.
Lots of possibilities. I'll have to get something put online to prove the effectiveness of this. Nobody has really had a chance to see it at it's full potential.
