The way raids are right now, they aren't very compet*tive... with the npc raids, you have a certain amount of bioenergy , which lasts days, before the npc is gone, and there's no pressing need to be quick in a guild vs guild raid.
It'd be cool if there were npc raids that spawned at random times every few days, and after the first kill it'd be gone again for a few days. They'd allow something to do more than attacking... the raids wouldn't even have to have items (although it would be nice) if the people who won the raid got a good amount of exp (say, 10k for a 5k power raid that spawned once every three days), and possibly points.

The idea is sound. I don't however like the idea of it dying after one kill, respawning at random places, and staying gone for days. I think it should be one or two of them, not all three. but I do agree that it needs to be challenging in order for them to be experience payouts.

Nah, it's not random places, although that actually sounds pretty cool, imo.
But, the random times is good- if it has a "window" that it can spawn, it adds some randomness to who can kill it. If it spawns in even intervals every few days, everyone's just going to go to it at the same time. And, the one kill per spawn is also necessary, imo... otherwise, there's no compet*tiveness to it; people won't be rushing to kill it as soon as it spawns...

Both normal NPCs and Boss NPCs have a "bioenergy" behind the scenes.
Currently, it is set to 10-20 on most normal NPCs, and 50-100 on Boss NPCs (because raiding takes more than 1 bioenergy point per raid).
They also have respawn rates which specify the delay before they return in minutes. Making it have some random variance isn't particularly hard.
Treasure can be made to be a certainty, because it is a percentage and 100% is obviously a 100% chance of winning the treasure.
It is already possible to do most of what you ask, and in fact, this has been requested a couple of times over the years, but you know what I'm like..

Lol, I never said anything about certain treasure, in fact... with the current economy and activity, I'd say LOWER the drop rate, by a lot.
You could make a "Spawn Kill" stat for the bars, too.
This would really get me active again, even if it's just like three at first. Also, I forgot to mention, everyone would have to be at the raid to join it.
